Similarities
For ambiance (from the visual and intrigue perspectives), the earth culture that resembles Cairhien the most is the french court of the early reign of Louis the XVth (lots of court intrigues, dress somewhat similar for women: high curled coiffures, full wide skirts and ruffs of lace). Be careful, though, everything is not the same, but it can give some references.
