Chapter 10: Peace, Life, Beauty

The rose petal floats on water,

The kingfisher flashes above the pond.

Life and beauty swirl in the midst of death.

Between the Fire and the Wind [Adar-24]

• The group run from the evil wind to the only WayGate? they know off. They attempt to get out though the burning building twice and are both times defeated. They give up and after a long discussion head for TarValon? via the Ways.

A Bridge to far

• They find that they need to travel 15 bridges to get there. Before long they hear the wind getting closer and closer. UzulfTzun knowing the stories of what happens to those in the Way, and runs for his life. The rest as best as they can follow him. After a while UzulfTzun gives up on going to TarValon? and heads to the nearest WayGate?.

The Howling Caves

• The group comes out into a dark cave. They meet up with two Illianer, AndronGreshos and DavorGreshos that have been exploring the Cave (DM's notes: actually, the Caves of the Lost, along the western coast, north of Illian), looking for the Horn of Valere. Both groups are suprised to find that they are no longer where they thought they where. They are now in the kingdom of Shienar.

Davor: "Andron, you know our father would want you to sacrifice your life to save mine, right?"

Andron: "Hmm. No. You got that from your mother."

A Warm Stead

• They leave the cold cave system to an even colder winter day. They spy a small farm and quickly set themselves up for a warm evening. They are not there long when the local knights(DM's notes: actually, not local knights at all, but retainers of Lord Angdain of Ankor Dail, 4 days ride to the east) arrive and inform the group that this area is being evacuated because of a battle with the Trollocs.

• They join the knight and they head to their capital (DM's notes: actually, not the capital, but the city of Fal Eisen (see the ShienarMap)).

The group clean up their act

• The group all have baths and gets some new clothes. This causes some problems for the southerners that are not used to communal bathing.

The War Room

• The group meet LordKayen? and some other nobles and discuss the fact that the Trolloc army is about to attack though the Gap. Also they tell the Lord about the Trolloc attacks to the south and that they have been seen though the Ways. LordKayen? asks the group to investigate the cave system where they came out.

• Dinner is called and the group heads for some much need sustenance ....
