Preamble

This is an adventure for companions only. Let the players select ther Doctor if they want to but otherwise it is important that he is an NPC for damatic reasons. Because this plot is about double dealing the Sevesta Maco Doctor makes more sence but as normal use the one that you or the players like as he will have little influence on the plot after the setup.

The adventure has a simple a linear Dr Who plot and works quite well except if you let the players have compainions that are too agressive. I have run it at three conventions and for 2 other sets of players all the groups but one completed the plot arc as intended.

The Background

The Staff of Horrus is in fact a big trap laid by the Celestial Intervention Agency long ago. The real staff was destroyed in the battles of the Osirins but the CIA keeps that fact a secret and spreads the rumour that it was hidden away because of it's power and it holds the key to universal power.

Over the eons many powermad races and individuals have wasted there energies looking for it and this is partly the point of the trap, it distracts the super powerful until the CIA can find another way to bring them down.

Unforcantly a large Darlek mothership has arrived at a small planet, XZ341a, where the real 'fake' has been seeded. Because of their understanding of time portal technologies they will spot the fake for what it is and spoil the ruse that has so carefully constructed. The Doctor knows this because one of his passed selves has been to the planet and seen the result of the Darlek's destruction here. Obviously the Darlek's where not destroyed by the trap, so he has left a outside-time mental note for one of hisselves to come to XZ341a and make sure timeline that is happens correctly. Even he is not quite sure how he is going to do this.

An Intentional Landing

To set things in motion the Doctor figures that he needs a random element, so he plans to let the companions be his lone-stone which he will use later. He knows that the companions will not wander off and get into mischeif in a way that would help if he is with them so he fakes the tardis crashing. This is not to hard as the tardis is always going wrong.
